JOB SUMMARY:         Repair various electrical mechanical equipment for transit and rail
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
      1.     Read job cards to determine: job status, work authorization/limitations, estimate, description of problems and/or work scope.
 
2.     Test to troubleshoot known or suspected problems using various methods (AC/DC)
 
3.     Disassemble equipment noting parts identification, configuration and condition
 
4.     Clean equipment assemblies as needed through various methods and steps, including but not limited to parts washers, steam cleaners and sand blasters.
 
5.     Measure for and note proper replacement parts.  Correctly requisition needed items, as approved by supervisor.
 
  1. Replace or repair worn or defective mechanical or electrical parts and assemblies, included but limited to: brushes, bearings, brush holders, motor leads, gears, seals, impellers, mechanical switches, brakes, clutches, tachometers, fans, etc.
 
  1. Retest reassembly for proper output and/or operation as per RAM specifications
 
  1. Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis
 
  1. Operate specialized repair and testing equipment including but not limited to: test panels, surge testers, core loss testers, burnout ovens, bake ovens, cut off saws, grinders, drills, cranes, forklift trucks, torches, dip tank, VPI systems, etc.
 
  1. Observe all safety procedures and proper protective gear
 
  1. Keep work area clean and neat
 
  1. Balance of various types of rotating equipment including but not limited to: fans, rotor, armatures, rolls, impellers, blowers, etc.
 
  1. Occasional work in Field Service Department
 
JOB QUALIFICATIONS (Skills, Abilities, Physical Requirements, etc.):
 
  1. Mechanical aptitude
 
  1. Ability to understand and retain various skill related training and operational and safety procedures
 
REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, etc.):
 
1.     High School diploma, some technical or trade school or on the job training

Certifications offered on the job:  Wire Preparation, Wire Routing, Lead Installation, Crimping and Mechanical Measurements certificates
